Designed in 1991 for The Pace Collection, this beautifully tailored chair and ottoman are a wonderful addition to homes and public spaces alike. The back is in bent beechwood veneered in elm burl with mahogany effect finish. Arms in Solid Beech with hi gloss lacquer finish.
Imported From Italy, this is one of the few pieces Tihany designed for the Pace collection. This beautifully executed white leather and mahogany lounge chair and matching ottoman were produced by Italian craftsmen i-4 Mariani, so called because of the 4 brothers Biagio, Tarcisio, Umberto and Emilio that established it on 1957; it is really a family operated company, with each member of the family contributing their own particular competence to provide a role in a well-tested mechanism.
Tihany has licensed product lines for several companies: Pace Collection and McGuire; Villeroy & Boch and Schönwald china, hardware for Valli & Valli; lighting for Lucifer and Baldinger and linens for Frette. His longstanding association with Christofle has resulted in Collection 3000, urban flatware, and K + T Hollowware designed with Thomas Keller. He recently collaborated with Poltrona Frau in the creation of The Stanley chair, which debuted in the company’s new home theater collection in spring of 2016.
Tihany's contribution to design has been recognized with honors and awards including an Honorary Doctorate from the New York School of Interior design and induction into the Interior Design Hall of fame in 1991.
