Børge Mogensen Teak Dining Table with 14 David Rosen Chairs, 1960s, Sweden

Teak dining table designed by Børge Mogensen for Karl Andersson & Söner in the 1960s. The table belongs to the Øresund series and has model number 140. The table without leaves measures 67″ in length. It has 4 additional 23″ extension leaves to create seating for 14 at 162″. The dining chairs, designed by David Rosen for Nordiska Kompaniet were purchased and have accompanied the table since the early 1960s. The chairs measure: 33″ H x19″ W x 20.25″ D with a seat height of 17″. Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) was a Danish furniture designer. He graduated from Denmarks Designskole and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine arts. Right after his studies he worked for various architects, design studios and furniture factories, including Karl Andersson & Söner. Since 1953, he also worked as an independent designer. Swedish furniture designer David Rosén (1910-1993) is largely linked by his midcentury involvement with esteemed department store and modernist furniture manufacturer, Nordiska Kompaniet (NK).
